Well New Year’s Eve will never be the same. Many people have been reading about the Terveen Benefit Hunt that was being planned for New Year’s Eve, and let me tell you, the people of the Dupree Community as well as the Weather, blew me away. It all started on Friday night the 30th with a $5 supper and the beginning of the Silent Auction, people kept coming, and they all had stuff for the Silent Auction. I would guess over 200 people in all showed up the first night.

The hunters checked in and there were 15 teams with 3 hunters on each team. This was a video hunt and the plan was for the hunters to hunt all day Saturday and bring in their videos for people to view on Saturday Night, then we would award the hunters as well as the winners of the Silent Auction items.

Results for the hunt went like this: Scroll Down \/

Big Dog, 2nd Place Little Dog, 1st Place Overall

Little Dog: Jayde Starr, Shane Farlee & Cody Rahder won Little Dog with a coyote weighing 15 pounds $100

Clay Farlee stated that over $9500 was brought in by the silent auction and the two nights of suppers. The Coyote Hunt brought in $750 for the cause, many of the hunters gave all or some of their winnings back for a total of $1050. Putting the total proceeds by this event over $10,500. An amazing amount for a community this small.

Thank you to all that helped to make it a success, what an amazing world we live in.

Aaron Terveen was injured in a car accident last month and his Wife Mandi (Farlee) Terveen, and two sons need our help. For more info on the accident (Click Here).

Aaron is an avid coyote hunter and since he has local ties we thought what better way to help his family than with a coyote hunt. We are going to have our 2nd Video hunt of the year on December 31st. If possible we would like to collect all the videos on a computer so I can make a hunt video for him to watch while he goes through his rehab. Many of the details are still being ironed out as this is short notice.

If you can help in anyway please let us know on the event page we set up on facebook.

If you are not a hunter and would like to help out we will take silent auction items as well as prizes for the hunters.
The events will kick off on Friday December 30th @ 5:30 with a $5 meal provided by the Farlee Family, followed by a rules meeting at 7:00. The Hunters will hunt all day on Saturday and videos will be aired and another free will meal will be served starting @ 5:30 on Saturday Night.

Entry fees for the contest will be $130 per team, teams may have up to 3 people.
For complete rules (Click Here)

Thanks for taking the time to read this and keep praying for Aaron, Mandi and the boys.
This summer our Good Friend and Hunting Partner, Courtney Good was hit with a tragedy, his 15 year old daughter Kas was in an awful accident that caused a traumatic brain injury. She has been hospitalized since the accident.
Courtney is a huge supporter of Dupree Dog Days, and has been to every hunt since it started. We all know how hospital bills pile up along with the time off of work and all the other little things. Courtney and his family had insurance but there are many things that insurance doesn’t cover. We are planning a couple of fundraisers in the spirit of Dupree Dog Days to help him and his family with these expenses.
On November 11-12 of 2011 we plan to have a video coyote hunt. The details of this hunt are yet to be released however if you have attended Dupree Dog Days in the past the rules will be similar with minor tweaks here and there.
We all know that this is the opening weekend for West River Deer season and the 2nd Weekend for the Tribal Deer seasons; therefore we are going to try and incorporate a Big Buck contest. This contest will need to be pre-entered so check back on SoDakAdventure.com or the SoDakAdventure facebook page for details in the next few days.
If you would like more information or would like to donate to the cause feel free to contact the following:

It was a great day for hunting, temps in the low 30s 15mph wind out of the North. Most teams talked about seeing coyotes and just not being able to get them to commit. Our team saw 14 coyotes and only got 2 in rifle range, so we know what the others were experiencing. Seems like they were in love and to busy playing with each other to worry about us hunters. However the Video Format seemed to be a success and we gave some cash to a good cause. The food was great both nights and every hunter walked away with a prize of some kind. When I recieve some pictures I will post them as well. Here are the results:

1.	Cody Eaton, Austin Stambach, Amanda Stambach –5 points/2 dogs on video = 66.12 #
2.	Cody Birkeland, Brady Birkeland, Voyle Stambach-3.5 points/1 dog on video and 1 not on video =74.12#
3.	Jeff Rheborg, Tate Fischer, Darren Fischer- 3.5 points/1 dog on video and 1 dog not on video = 55.12# they were also the little dog winner – 24.4# dog
4.	Jared Schofield, Aaron Doolittle – 2.5 points/ 1 dog on video =34.4#
5.	Tim Rosencranz, Ed Henschel – 2 points / 2 dogs off video = 59#
6.	Pat Donovan, John Donovan – 1 point / no video = 42# Also big dog winner
7.	Slade Farlee, Rocky Longbrake – 1 point / no video = 34.8#
8.	Jake Harris, CJ Menzel, Jeff Henderson – 1 point/ no video = 31.6#
9.	Aaron Terveen, Clay Farlee, Robert McIntosh
10.	Brian Starr, Jayde Starr, Skeeter Smith
11.	Jess Dennis, Ted Maupin, Cooper Knight
12.	Roger Sukup, Evan Anderson, Matt Niesen
13.	Troy Swensen, Craig Jost, Bob Stalley
14.	Mark Stevens, Courtney Good, Mike Fillaus
15.	Murdock Halligan, Bill Bushong, Gereth Bushong
16.	Oren Lesmeister, Casey Joens
17.	Tommy Dale Vines, Jess Brewer, Vinnie Elsinger

Just want to thank all the hunters again for participating in the fundraiser for Pioneer Hall! Maybe next year we can gather at Pioneer Hall for the hunt! Thanks to everyone for following the rules and keeping it honest. It sure makes it easier to find help to put the next contest on when there is not disputes on the number of coyotes killed OR how they were killed! I want to thank everyone that helped and everyone that donated to the silent auction and door prizes!

Field Rep: Clayton Pederson

Location Contact
Faith Community Center
204 North Main Street
Faith, SD 57626

There is something for everyone at a Friends of NRA banquet. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is brimming with excitement. Whether you’re keeping an eye on that unique item in the silent auction, trying your luck at the game tables, or just dining on some delicious food, you’ll be sure to have a good time. It’s a family-friendly event chock-full of everything from exclusive, limited edition merchandise, firearms, knives, art, jewelry, and more. Not to mention all the great people you’ll meet in the process!

Nothing makes a Friends of NRA banquet more unique than the people who make it all happen. Working with NRA Field Staff, thousands of dedicated individuals across America, passionate and concerned about the future of the shooting sports, participate in the program by organizing committees, securing donations, selling tickets, and hosting a Friends of NRA banquet in their communities. Whether you’re serving on the committee or just attending, you’ll meet fire chiefs, engineers, local business owners, law enforcement, and teachers – all mainstream citizens working together to secure the Second Amendment and raise money for the shooting sports.

Amongst the fun and fellowship, Friends of NRA banquets boil down to one goal— fund-raising for the future of the shooting sports. Since its inception in 1992, Friends of NRA has held over 12,000 events, reached over two million attendees and raised over $155 million for The NRA Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Each year, The NRA Foundation allocates half of all net proceeds to fund projects within the state in which the money was raised and uses the other half to fund similar projects with a national scope.

Committee volunteers are appointed to State Fund Committees to make recommendations for local grant funding in areas such as youth firearm safety and education programs, hunter education, range development and improvement, women’s training seminars, and wildlife conservation efforts. Recognizing that America’s young people represent the future of the shooting sports, State Fund Committee grants are frequently given to youth programs, allocating more than 50% of grant monies to this important area.

So whether you attend a Friends of NRA banquet for the fun, fellowship, or fund-raising, you can be confident that you are helping safeguard programs across the nation that prepare today’s generations to be tomorrow’s guardians of the Second Amendment.

Arizona Law:
Being the Husband and Father of Mexican Americans I decided to read the law in its entirety.

It states that a law officer must have probable cause to stop someone, (this is the same as the South Dakota Seatbelt law: A law officer must have probable cause to pull someone over, just because they are not wearing a seat belt is not a probable cause if pulled over for speeding, you may also receive a ticket for no seatbelt). In AZ just because you are Hispanic does not mean you will be pulled over, if you have a broken tail light you will be pulled over and asked for your Driver’s License, just like a person of any other nationality.

The law also states that anyone stopped must show proper Identification, a Drivers License, Military ID, MVD identification card, or a Native American Card. Federal law is very clear if you are here on a visa you must have your papers on you at all times. That is the law. If you cannot provide the proper papers you will be detained, and given a chance to provide them. If you do not provide them you will be deported, if you do provide them you may be fined for not having them with you. I know people here from Mexico on Visas, they spend a great deal of time in Border towns in Texas and New Mexico, they would never leave home without their Visas or Green Cards, even though they have U.S. Drivers licenses.

I guess people should educate themselves before they start attacking a State for being reactive to a National problem. This is just a clarification and a crack down on how the Federal Law is enforced. Truth is, it’s no different than someone driving on a suspended license, if you don’t break the traffic laws you will more than likely will not get caught.

The opinions out there are that if you are Hispanic, look Hispanic or speak Spanish you will get pulled over, harassed and detained by the cops. If this is true the cops are acting illegally not you, there are bigots everywhere and I’m sad to say there are many in the police services, however the new Bill does not give the Police that right, it just tells them to do their jobs and make sure that the people pulled over for breaking traffic laws are here legally. It also has nothing to do with being Hispanic; anyone pulled over must provide the proper ID. This law might actually stop the next guy that tries to put a Bomb in Time Square.

Don’t take my word for it, read the law Arizona Law SB 1070 it’s all over the Internet read the actual law not the opinions of a bunch of Liberal bloggers. I agree some of the wording is confusing, but I’m not scared to take my Family to AZ because of it, and neither should anyone else.
