What will your headstone say???
The other day I posted this on my facebook page and only got 1 comment:
Murdock Halligan You know so many people spend thier lives worried about what outsiders think about them and how much money they have. The world would be a better place if everyone went through life working on what they want their headstone to say.

My thoughts at the time were “nobody cares”, however on Sunday in church the thought came back to me again. We started out in class talking about anger, and losing your temper. Thoughts on how we treat others and how we control our temper. When it comes right down to it, we get really angry at things we cannot control, things in our lives that go wrong for no reason. It’s easy to blame your wife, blame your kids, or even blame god, but is it truly anyone’s fault?? By controling our temper we make the world a better place. I know countless people who worry so much about how clean their house is (in case anyone stops by) that their kids don’t even know how to be kids, they are so worried about getting mud on the carpet, or dripping ice cream on the new tile, that they can’t even enjoy the rain or the Klondike for what they are, enjoyable. I know people who are so worried about making more money that they end up in the hospital with heart problems at a late age, do they even realize they never took their kids on a real family vacation. I know people my age who were really good at sports and rodeo, who’s fathers never saw them compete, because they couldn’t leave the ranch.
Have you ever walked through a cemetary and read the headstones? Do they say “Here Lays a Wealthy Man” or “He never left his cows unattended”. No they say “Loving Mother & Grandmother” and “Devoted Father”. Many more of these headstones say simply Name & Date. Who were these Name & Date people?? Were they Devoted Fathers or Loving Mothers??
As you make decisions going forward, remember it’s OK to make money, it’s also OK to be devoted to your job, but remember someday, someone will have to decide what to put on your headstone, what do you want it to say??

Well said Murdock! People get way too busy with trying to create a life for their family that they forget to enjoy that life they are creating. You can never get back that first play day or first ball game. Live life well!
Love that headstone by the way. Funny thing…Kevin sent that pic to me in an e-mail one day!
